Bolyn Weekly is published every week, sharing events that happen to me, things I observe, and topics that interest me—often just some rambling.

Arrogance is the Original Sin
Everyone harbors a bit of arrogance. When something exceeds our understanding, we tend to dismiss it as non-existent. Yet, that isn’t a major issue, since at least you’ve witnessed something beyond your grasp.
What’s even worse is to isolate yourself from ideas that differ from your own, confining yourself to your little bubble and missing out on everything else.
I believe in staying humble, embracing differences, and recognizing more possibilities. Arrogance can significantly limit your life experiences.
Yet, living solely in your own world isn’t without its appeal. For instance, while I think being self-centered is wrong, isn’t that in itself another form of arrogance? 😌
Exercise
Running
After over a month of downtime, I’ve resumed running—covering 24 kilometers in one go. It was a rocky experience, far from smooth; for the final 10 kilometers, I alternated between walking and running.

This run was the slowest pace I’ve ever managed, which is disheartening. It shows that consistent training is crucial—suddenly upping the intensity without proper buildup just isn’t sustainable. The good news is that my body has adapted quite a bit; what once required a week to recover now only takes five days, allowing me to handle increased intensity.
I’m determined to keep at it and continue building up my strength.
Table Tennis
I took part in my last undergraduate table tennis competition, and it was a crushing defeat. I was eliminated right away by a freshman. In the next five, six, or seven years, I plan to beat them with skill—if that fails, then time will do the job.
Graduation Thesis Defense
I’d actually been mostly done with my thesis about two weeks ago. Initially, my professor wanted me to finish the thesis and immediately move on to new projects. However, from two weeks ago until now, I haven’t made any progress.
I feel a bit unmotivated; after all, graduating from university and diving into a new project right after finishing your thesis is quite challenging. My internal drive is lacking. For now, I’ll just keep going and see how far I get by this time next week.
Other
Lately, I’ve been thinking about where to go after graduation. Even though I’m excited, I can’t really start a new project for an entire vacation—it just wouldn’t be possible. I don’t have any solid plans yet.
If anyone has any good ideas or plans for a group trip, feel free to share them with me. For now, that’s it.
