Bolyn Weekly is published every week, featuring events that have happened to me, observations I've made, or things I find interesting—though most of the time it might merely be some ramblings.

Thinking about the New Year, I planned to spend the winter break alone in my dorm, enjoying my meals and drinks as usual. It would likely pass quietly, with neither joy nor sorrow.

During that time, I met a girl online and we chatted casually every day. On New Year's Eve, one of her relatives had a baby, and after all the commotion, her parents went to bed early.

She chatted with me and shared the view of the fireworks outside her window. I told her: We are living our own happiness while celebrating the happiness of others.

Later that night, we watched videos together and ushered in the New Year. It was the first—and perhaps the only—time I spent the holiday in this way, online with a girl. Thinking back on it recently, it feels truly beautiful.

Goal-Oriented

An efficient way to communicate and solve your problems is to be clear about what you intend to do and the issues you face when asking for help.

The key is: What do you want to achieve?

For example, when converting a Word document to PDF, I encountered poor image quality and wanted to fix the issue. So, when asking for help, the focus should be on how to preserve image quality during the conversion, rather than on unrelated details like how to install WPS.

Sometimes, following various online guides might lead to questions at certain steps; however, we must always keep our goal—converting Word to PDF—in mind. This is the first principle: always stay focused on your objective to solve problems more efficiently.

Public Account Writing

This week, I wrote four articles—two addressing minor issues I encountered while working on my graduation thesis, and two recounting personal experiences. I realized that my account appears a bit disorganized, which is not ideal from a professional public account operator's perspective.

I need to categorize my content better and avoid posting haphazardly in order to maintain a more professional and disciplined account.

Exercise

Over the past two weeks, I’ve gradually started working out again by playing table tennis. Although my hand used to feel stiff after long periods without playing, the recent sessions have been surprisingly good.

Graduation Thesis

I have finished writing my graduation thesis and received positive feedback from my supervisor. There are no major issues—just a few minor content tweaks and formatting adjustments before I can submit it for the first plagiarism check. It feels great.
